If you recently took the Chicago Police Department examination on December 11, 2010, you should of received an email on February 14th from the City either accepting or rejecting your application. Many have complained of passing the written examination but having their application denied because of not attaching the necessary documentation, i.e. valid driver's license and 60 credit hours of college. This was clearly explained during the application process. If you feel you followed the proper procedures and there is an error on the city's end, you must contact the city A.S.A.P.! The following email was sent out to accepted applicants:
This correspondence is to inform you that the review of your application for the entry level Police Officer position with the City of Chicago has been completed, and your application has been accepted.
You have met the minimum qualifications, attached the appropriate documents, and passed the written exam. Your name will be placed on the Police Officer referral list in a random lottery order. The lottery is conducted through an electronic system that has a random formula to generate a lottery list. It is not based on social security number. This referral list will be used until it is exhausted which could take up to four years.
By March 31, 2011, you will receive a letter via U.S. Mail providing you with your lottery number.
As vacancies become available in the Chicago Police Department, we will refer individuals in lottery order to take part in the remaining portions of the selection process including the P.O.W.E.R Test as well as all other pre-employment testing.
